MeX and the Future of the Circular Economy: Our Participation in CASTIC 2024

Mauro, Elia, Marco, Valentino and Monica at CASTIC 2024

We are excited to announce as Manto Circular Lab, the participation of the MeX project in CASTIC 2024. The project, born within the association in late 2023 focuses on the extraction of precious metals from electronic components, contributing significantly to emissions reduction and environmental sustainability.

MeX bases its research and development on the extraction of two key elements: gold, known for its high commercial value, and copper, the predominant metal in printed circuit boards (PCBs). The traditional methodology for extracting these materials is often highly polluting and energy intensive. However, the project has developed a solution that greatly reduces energy consumption and uses only fully reusable reagents.

With the progress of their research, the project has achieved its main goal, but they did not stop there. During their experiments, they also discovered an innovative method for extracting aluminum from DVDs and silver from keyboards, further expanding the possibilities for recovering valuable materials.

Participation in CASTIC 2024 is an important opportunity for MeX to share its research findings with a wider community of sustainability professionals and enthusiasts. We are excited to showcase how innovation can contribute to a more sustainable and circular future.

Stay tuned for more updates on our journey to CASTIC and learn how MeX is revolutionizing the way the process of disposing and reusing electronic components.
